About Lisa

To know that every movement you make is related to the movements of the pine trees in the wind…

The orbit of a star or the spiral movement of the sun itself.”
Walter Anderson, American painter

I learned Tai Chi as easy, natural, everyday movements.

Eighteen years ago, I was introduced to the the 5 Element form, choreographed by Chungliang Al Huang. This form expresses the five life forces as metaphors to inspire kinesthetic awareness in our bodies.

The 5 Elements, earth, water, fire, metal, wood wind and metal turned my life around.

I was a serious student when I started Tai Chi. The slow graceful movements made me aware of the tension in my body and the distractions in my mind. With a lot of practice & perseverance, I let go and felt the flow of energy within me. I discovered Tai Chi is a continuous learning process and a moving meditation.

I began offering Tai Chi classes to my community over eight years ago. Now I combine Qigong and Tai Chi in classes and seasonal retreats at the ARTSelf Studio in Scandia, the Compass Center for Healing  and  Studio Cates in Stillwater, and at community centers, retirement homes and retreat centers.

I am passionate about Tai Chi and Qigong and want to share it.

My classes and retreats combine art, poetry, and Qigong and Tai Chi movements into a flowing composition. Almost everyone can participate whether they choose to stand or sit in a chair. I use hand painted mandala’s reflecting the seasons and visualizations to help center the mind and body. My goal is to bring Tai Chi and Qigong into people’s daily lives because it is so good for everyone.
